Orangetown board approves grants, contracts, appointments and training in consent votes

The board approved a slate of routine items including endorsing a grant application for the Lake Topan Nature Trail, retaining Greenman Peterson for intersection design, awarding tree and irrigation contracts, appointing two police officers, and authorizing three officers to attend UAS training.
At its July 28 meeting the Orangetown Town Board approved several consent agenda items by motion and voice vote. Items included endorsing a grant application to the Hudson River Valley Greenway Conservancy for the Lake Topan Nature Trail; retaining Greenman Peterson Inc. to design and provide construction inspection services for the Hunt Road/Orangeburg Road intersection; awarding a tree-service contract; and awarding golf-course irrigation repairs to the sole qualified bidder, National Lawn Sprinkler.
The board also appointed James Dugan to a police officer position and nominated Lisonbee Tarzanane for a temporary police officer role, both actions recommended by the police chief. The board approved permission for Sergeant Michael Janazone, Chris Connelly and Anthony Burdicchio to attend the New York State Public Safety Unmanned Aircraft Systems Summit Training.
Supervisor Kenny thanked staff members for grant work and implementation assistance and the motions passed without recorded opposition.
