Plano ISD reports fifth year of PBIS rollout, emphasizes campus audits and district supports

Phoebe Lim, Student Management Coordinator, told the board that Plano ISD is now in year five of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) implementation and emphasized that the initiative is about building sustainable systems and schoolwide expectations rather than solely praising behavior.
Lim outlined four PBIS modules—foundational team work, common-area policy development, campus-specific guidelines for success, and teacher responses to misbehavior—and described the STOIC framework and audit process used to assess campus fidelity after three years of formal training. She said the district leadership team provides cross-departmental support, site visits are conducted for real-time feedback, and cohort campuses receive tiered follow-up services based on audit outcomes. "We are currently in our 5th year of implementation with PBIS," Lim said.
Trustees asked about data collection; Lim said campuses collect observation data, perception surveys and statistical incident data to inform decisions. The board commended outreach efforts such as a monthly PBIS newsletter and a centralized PBIS landing page with exemplars and training resources.
