Plano ISD presents 2024-25 TAPER: district outperforms region and state on several measures, CCMR flagged for further work

Assistant Superintendent Courtney Gober presented the district'9s 2024-25 Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPER) during a Feb. 17 public hearing, describing the report as a statutory requirement under Texas Education Code 39.053 and an overview of academic, demographic and financial indicators.

Gober summarized key outcomes: "For 2025, the district earned an overall B in academic accountability with 36 campuses, 57%, receiving at least one academic distinction designation," and said the district earned an A (superior) under the state's financial accountability system. She noted Plano ISD students outperform region and state averages across tested subjects and highlighted that the district exceeded its HB3 third-grade reading and math goals for consecutive years (meeting or surpassing the set percentages at the "meets" level).

Gober also called out areas for continued focus: CCMR (college, career, and military readiness) for the Class of 2024 was 76% compared with a new target of 88% for the class of 2024, and the administration plans additional updates on CCMR at an upcoming meeting. Lisa Wilson supplemented the presentation with out-of-state college-enrollment and persistence figures drawn from the National Student Clearinghouse, reporting a 93% persistence rate for the class cohort examined.
