Council reviews amendment to parcel sale ordinance to authorize 4% CIC fee

Council reviewed an amendment to Ordinance No. 26‑026 that corrects the parcel permanent number and adds language permitting the City to pay 4% of the sale price to the Community Investment Corporation (CIC) for work as acting agent.
Service Director Matt Hiscock said the CIC executive director had actively marketed the parcel, administered the bid process and recommended terms; he presented a worked example showing that on a $15,000 sale price a 4% fee would total $600. Council Member Zach Berger asked whether it was appropriate for City officials who sit on the CIC to receive fees; Law Director Bradley Proudfoot responded that certain elected and administrative officials are required by statute to serve on the CIC and that he had reviewed the arrangement and found it consistent with Ohio Revised Code requirements.
Council Member Jeanne Hines indicated she would amend, suspend the rules and call the ordinance. The clerk recorded the discussion for inclusion on the Council agenda.
