Educator Carrington Taylor urges board to back Black Education History Week

Carrington Taylor, who identified themself as a teacher at Stewart Hall School for Boys and a member of Binola’s teacher-fellowship cohort, spoke in support of Resolution 17-26 during the Committee of the Whole meeting.
Taylor described a decade of work in New Orleans education, recalled participating in Binola’s fellowship and said that experience motivates ongoing involvement in planning the proposed Black Education History Week. "I am going into my 10th year as an educator here in New Orleans," Taylor said, and asked for the board’s continued partnership and support. Taylor said the week would help anchor remembrance of the city’s education history to inform future work.
