Police and Fire report: September calls for service, new pepper ball systems, and upcoming CPR class

Council’s Public Health & Safety committee chair Shelly Kroeger presented the police and fire run counts for September. Kroeger reported 1,097 police calls for service, 31 auto accidents, 121 booking original charges and 211 total criminal charges, with 92 total citations across jurisdictions. The Fire Department reported 220 EMS responses and 52 fire responses, totaling 272 responses for September.
Kroeger noted the police department received pepper ball systems in September. Mayor Bemmes and Kroeger reminded residents about an upcoming CPR/AED training on Nov. 8 in the City of Reading Council Chambers; the course carries a $20 certification fee and is limited to residents of Reading, Arlington Heights and Amberly Village.
