Plano ISD reports strong spring participation and competitive success in fine arts and athletics

Fine-arts and athletics directors reported high participation across K–12 fine-arts and spring sports, numerous contest honors and a rise in college signing letters for athletes (56 this year). Directors credited staff, district support and communications for the results.
Plano ISD presented a spring student-engagement report that highlighted broad participation and competitive success in fine arts and athletics. Fine-arts director Dr. Philip Morgan reported K–12 participation in visual and performing arts programs exceeding 10,000 in middle school and roughly 10,589 in high school programs; directors cited high ratings at concert evaluations and numerous UIL and invitational accomplishments.
Athletics director Kendall Miller summarized spring-sport participation and postseason success, including state qualifiers in swimming, wrestling and golf and multiple playoff appearances in basketball and soccer. Miller and Morgan credited strong district communication and family support and noted a rise in college signing letters for athletes (56 this year compared with 48 last year). Dr. Morgan said the district's fine-arts programs consistently aim for top ratings: "All of our programs strive to get a 1st division rating," he said.
Trustees asked about virtual-academy interactions with athletics and fine arts; directors said they are monitoring interest and policy but have not seen major conflicts. Directors encouraged board members and families to attend upcoming events.
