The superintendent asked the board to consider two action items: a grounds upkeeping contract with Jamie Fisher Cutting to maintain weed‑eating, trimming and hazard removal across district properties, and approval for an analysis (estimated $2,500) through ASBO to determine whether participating in a pension-obligation bond program would be advantageous for the district.
On the pension topic the superintendent cautioned that pension-obligation bonds carry risk: "I'm gonna be honest and transparent...it's not a guarantee that you will always make money," the superintendent said, noting a handful of districts that lost money after the 2008 market downturn. The analysis is intended to give the board data to decide whether to pursue a bond; no board approval of the bond itself was taken at this meeting.
