The County Planning Commission presented an early-stage County Unified Zoning Code pilot aimed at standardizing zoning guidance across participating municipalities while maintaining local control, Mayor Nicole Dailey Jones told the Westshore COG.
Dailey Jones said the initiative is being piloted by several East Side communities and the stated goal is to create more consistent zoning guidance to attract development, with local city councils retaining final decision-making authority. She said she will forward the presentation slides to members for review.
Council members did not take action at the meeting; the initiative remains at an informational stage and further discussion is expected when more jurisdictions evaluate the pilot.
