Eagle Lake planning commission introduces planning intern to assist with sign ordinance research

City Administrator Jennifer Bromeland introduced Collins Cherus as the new Planning Intern at the Planning Commission meeting on July 20, 2026. Bromeland said Cherus is an undergraduate student at Minnesota State University, Mankato, pursuing Urban and Regional Studies and is expected to graduate in 2027.
Bromeland said, "Mr. Cherus is an undergraduate student at Minnesota State University, Mankato, pursuing a degree in Urban and Regional Studies and is anticipated to graduate in 2027." She told the commission that Cherus will be working in Eagle Lake on Thursdays and Fridays throughout the summer and will assist staff with a variety of planning-related projects.
Bromeland noted Cherus's first assigned project: research and potential updates to the City's electronic sign ordinance. Commissioners welcomed Cherus and expressed appreciation for the work he will complete during his internship. The introduction was presented as part of New Business and required no formal action.
