Councilman Echols introduced the newly created Crestview Proud Award and presented the first citation June 22 to volunteers who operate a free-meal program at the Bush House.
"We did over 400 dinners in 1 night," a volunteer organizer said, describing the program’s origin during the government shutdown and noting the group now serves on the third Friday of each month from about 6:00–7:30 p.m. Echols said the award recognizes continuity with the Bush House tradition of feeding neighbors and thanked the group for keeping Crestview "strong and welcoming."
