Parent urges Crowley ISD board to reject SB 11 adoption

Carissa Robinson, a Crowley parent, used the district's open forum to urge the board not to adopt SB 11. "Speaking first as a parent, I am concerned implementing this law in Crowley ISD would be a source of exclusion and division," she said, and repeated her request that trustees "vote no on SB 11."
Robinson told the board she speaks also as a seminary student and a former teacher, saying the law would force students into visible choices about participation by requiring signed consent forms for a state‑sanctioned time of reading and prayer. "No child should be forced to choose between their faith and fitting in at school," she said, and noted that existing law already allows prayer and religious clubs. She asked trustees to consider Fort Worth, Grand Prairie, Irving and Cleburne ISDs as examples of districts that have opted not to adopt similar policies.
The board did not take formal action immediately following the public comment; the item is on the record for future consideration when trustees debate related policy.
