Highway engineer: missed Township invoice left county, road district to absorb Dudleyville Bridge costs

Highway Engineer Mike McCormick briefed the Bond County Board on Sunnyside Avenue work and said the county will bear costs for the Dudleyville Bridge because the previous engineer failed to invoice the Township Bridge Fund (TBF). He also reported a budgeted vehicle purchase and that an Illinois Department of Labor inspection went well.
Highway Engineer Mike McCormick told the Bond County Board the Township Bridge Fund was not invoiced by the previous sitting County Engineer for the Dudleyville Bridge project, which means the County and the local Road District must now bear costs that TBF would have covered.
McCormick said he attempted to invoice the state for the TBF reimbursement but "it was too late." He told commissioners he typically expects invoices to be produced within a couple of weeks after project completion and used the Campground Cemetery Bridge as an example. McCormick also updated the board on a Sunnyside Avenue project in Shoal Creek Township and said he planned to buy a 2008 Western Star semi to replace a 1996 Ford semi; the purchase "had already been budgeted." He reported the Illinois Department of Labor walk-through inspection "went well."
