Bond County highway engineer: Pocahontas Avenue repairs continue; North Pokey Road project fully funded

Bond County Highway Engineer Mike McCormick updated commissioners on local road work and department operations at the Dec. 17 meeting. "They are doing maintenance on Pocahontas Avenue but there are still drainage issues," McCormick said, adding crews expect to finish the current work this week. He also reported electricians are working to complete a building repair project.
McCormick told the board that the upcoming job on North Pokey Road will be fully funded — "100 percent funded, leaving no cost to the County" — and that the highway department sold a truck that had been donated; the sale proceeds were deposited into the department account. He reminded commissioners that a public forum is scheduled at the next board meeting on Jan. 7, 2025, to follow roll call.
