The Town of Pegram adopted Ordinance 2026-173 to set the annual budget and tax rate for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026. The ordinance passed on a unanimous roll-call vote.
Mayor Charles Morehead drew attention to two items in the budget: it includes employee raises and, because his wife serves as City Recorder, her evaluation and any raise remain supervised by the Vice Mayor under a prior resolution. Alderman Michael Paszek moved approval, Vice Mayor Bob Sanders seconded, and the vote was recorded as Howington-yes, Sanders-yes, Morehead-yes, Montgomery-yes, Paszek-yes.
Adoption of the budget authorizes spending and the tax rate for the coming fiscal year; the town will implement the pay changes and move forward with budgeted programs and capital items after the ordinance takes effect.
