The board authorized Health & Human Services Director Chris Bischoff to sign contract 2025-052-00 with the Area Agency on Aging and Disabilities of Southwest Washington for a budgeted $80,000 to expand services for older adults.
The grant-funded work will expand the Living Well event and add workshops and fitness programs targeted at older residents. The motion to authorize signing the contract passed unanimously (M/S/A Tischer/Cothren). HHS staff noted the program aims to increase outreach and activities for seniors.
Separately the Board of Health heard an update on the county Youth Mentoring Program; Community Services Manager Julie Johnston introduced Healthy Communities Specialists Diana Zimmerman and Minette Smith, who said the program serves ages 6–18, currently has 12 youth and 9 mentors, and is actively recruiting.
