The Commission adopted Resolution 2024‑29 setting the 2024 mill rates after a presentation by Chief Deputy Assessor Linda Gallegos explaining valuation changes and mill adjustments across school districts. The Commission also adopted Resolution 2024‑30 to make several FY2024‑25 budget adjustments, including donations for Animal Services, lease costs for the Superior building, firefighter recruitment grant budgeting, and DWI grant fund reversion.
Road Department staff presented three FY2025 Local Government Road Fund projects (chip seal and gravel projects) and the Commission approved Resolutions 2024‑31, 2024‑32 and 2024‑33 authorizing participation and signatures. The Commission approved small prior‑year payments to vendor invoices for Dispatch and accepted requested cleanups to the Moriarty Police dispatch MOU, which included liability and tort language requested by the City of Moriarty. All votes reported in the meeting record carried on unanimous roll call by Commissioners Schwebach, Schropp and McCall.
The Commission also authorized scheduling a public hearing to amend the Torrance County Financial Reserve Ordinance (Ordinance 2020‑05), to be advertised for the second September meeting, and recorded an executive session on filling the County Manager position, after which counsel was directed to proceed as discussed.
