Chair Fischer outlines water workshop, shared-forestry presentation and plans for Ruidoso Downs briefing

Chair Mark G. Fischer used the opening of the March 31 special meeting to brief the Board on several outreach and information items.
Fischer said he had sent commissioners an invitation to a water leaders' workshop and that he had received available dates from the State Forester for a presentation on the shared stewardship program; he said he would forward those dates to the commissioners. He also said he is looking for a date in May to present actions taken in recent years at Ruidoso Downs, specifically mentioning the WUI (wildland-urban interface) barrier, an EWP buyout and sheriff's office assistance and that he would like to extend similar presentations to other areas of the county. Fischer additionally raised the idea of holding regular and special commission meetings at locations around the county rather than always in the courthouse in Carrizozo.
No public comments were offered in response to the announcements. The items were informational; no formal motions or policy decisions were made during this portion of the meeting.
