Planning director: CHIP/CDBG award signed by county, state confirmation still pending

Building & Planning Director Jeff Kaiser updated the committee on the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) CHIP program for home repairs and rehabilitation. He said the county, as grantee, signed the award letter and returned it to the state, but the county has not yet received state confirmation allowing the program to proceed.
"The County did get awarded CHIP grant through the CDBG program… State does require that the county as the grantee needed to basically sign an award letter that says yes we accept the grant with these conditions and we will make sure they get spent the way we told you," Kaiser said. He added he had spoken with the county planning director, who indicated the county cannot move forward until it receives state confirmation.
Kaiser said the city will publish more information on its grant program page when details are finalized and promised at least one public meeting to discuss program parameters, eligibility and available funding, with a hoped-for launch in March or April.
