Council moves Antioch Road land‑use and rezoning items to second reading

The Crestview City Council moved two ordinances affecting a portion of property on Antioch Road to second reading after a first‑reading vote.
Staff described Ordinance 20‑21 as a proposed future land‑use map amendment to change the parcel's designation from residential to commercial, noting that notices were mailed to property owners, the site was posted May 18 and an advertisement appeared in the Crestview News Bulletin on May 21. Staff said fees for the comprehensive plan amendment were $2,500 and the cost of advertising was recorded in the staff report. The council voted to approve first reading and advance the item to second reading (voice vote 5–0).
Staff also presented Ordinance 20‑22, which would rezoned the same portion of the property from single‑family medium‑density (R‑2) to commercial high‑density (C‑2). The Planning and Development Board recommended approval on June 2; staff asked the council to move the rezoning to second reading. The council approved first reading and moved that ordinance as well (5–0).
No substantive public testimony was taken at first reading; staff reminded residents that the formal public hearing will occur at the second reading, where the public may comment on the proposals.
