Miss Cody, the finance presenter introduced by a board member, recommended maintaining the current 14.90 mills and said that keeping the rate would "fully support the fiscal year 2027 adopted budget" and provide greater financial stability for staffing and student services. Chair later announced the vote was unanimous. The board scheduled final adoption for Aug. 18, after the required public hearings are held.
The board's tentative adoption does not finalize the rate; Miss Cody emphasized the board may adopt a lower rate after hearings without re‑advertising but cannot increase it without restarting the advertisement process. The motion was recorded as moved by Mr. Madala and seconded by Mr. Jackson, and the vote was reported as unanimous by the chair.
