The Fayette County Board on April 16 voted to table proposed amendments to the county's solar ordinance. Ashley Towler made the motion to postpone consideration until next month; Patrick Click seconded and the motion passed by vote.
Administrator Dustin Harmon (Bellwether) had earlier outlined state-driven changes related to battery storage (SB25), noting that Illinois Extension training is due June 1 and that county battery storage ordinances must be updated by Sept. 29. Harmon raised concerns about drainage, setbacks, screening and emergency response for battery storage fires, and said Bellwether would work with local officials to align the county ordinance with state changes.
