County advances multiple Transportation Project Fund requests for road designs and overlays

Lincoln County moved forward on several transportation projects intended to improve emergency access and road safety. Jeff Honeycutt presented three Transportation Project Fund (TPF) requests: a $499,918.13 design request for Devil's Canyon (to advance to 60% design for a future $8–10M paving project), a $2.716M capital request to complete Fort Lone Tree (with the county match estimated at $135,832.78), and a $568,214 overlay request for Paso Monte Loop with a 5% county match.
Honeycutt said having projects at the 60% or 100% design mark is strategic for securing state and federal funds and noted the Devil's Canyon concept aimed to create an emergency evacuation or truck bypass linking Highways 220 and 70. Commissioners approved the relevant resolutions and agreements authorizing the county to seek TPF funding and to bridge funding via SB31 where applicable. Manager Jason Burns described the approach as preparing "bookshelf projects" ready for future grant awards.
