Administrators outline staffing, job-description and union negotiation work at Hillcrest

County and facility administrators updated the Health and Social Services Committee on operational staffing matters at Hillcrest on Jan. 14. County Administrator Erin Knackstedt described work on job-description updates, efforts to build staffing redundancy, and ongoing union negotiations; Administrator Kevin Powell reviewed staffing, employee issues, and a brief discussion of incidents.

Administrators also raised operational items including lagoon status and employees assigned multiple job codes. Committee members discussed training, backup coverage, and the potential impact on inspections and day-to-day operations; those staffing concerns were cited when the committee approved a temporary extension of courthouse stipends to cover HR duties while recruitment proceeds.
