On Nov. 21 the DeWitt County Board approved renewal of insurance programs with Illinois Counties Risk Management Trust for $306,834 and property insurance with Pekin for $37,838 for FY25. The board also renewed unemployment insurance at a rate of 2.10% (up from 1.9% last year).
Tilley moved and the board approved Bellwether conducting a cost study for Animal Control and the Sheriff's Department for $10,000 to be paid from contingencies; Tilley noted the last study was completed in 2016 and doing both departments together produced a $2,000 discount. The board also approved paying $50,000 from contingencies this year and $50,000 next year to address a Circuit Clerk office deficiency that remained from prior years.
