County approves IDOT joint funding, sets resurfacing for North Thompsonville Road

The Franklin County Board voted unanimously March 16 to approve a Joint Funding Agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation for North Thompsonville Road (section 25-00201-00-RS) and later adopted a resolution appropriating federal aid match funds for the project.
County Engineer Matt Barnett described the project’s scope: "It is from Illinois 34 to Akin Blacktop. It's about 5 miles," and said the work is "just a resurfacing." Barnett told the board the contract will be let next month and that construction will likely occur this summer or fall. The agreement was entered as Agreement No. 2026-05 and the matching-funds resolution as Resolution No. 2026-51 in the official minutes.
Chairman Neil Hargis introduced the item and the motion to approve was moved and seconded by board members; on roll call the motion passed with all members voting yes. The board did not discuss alternative design scopes or additional county-funded improvements at the meeting.
The county clerk’s records will attach the agreement and the appropriation resolution to the minutes for public reference. The board did not set a separate schedule beyond the letting timeline reported by county staff.
