The DeWitt County Board voted Nov. 21 to allocate $359,169.43 in ARPA funds to a countywide Fire and EMS radio upgrade project. The motion included a $100,000 reallocation from the Farmer City Fire Department's share and called for the remaining $57,497.46 to come from contingencies; an amendment seeking to change that funding source was proposed and later withdrawn, and the original motion passed unanimously.
Tilley said the funding would support the radio upgrade project and that using ARPA funds with a partial reallocation was necessary to cover project costs. The board's approval moves the project forward; staff will follow up on implementation details and final procurement.
