Council hears timeline for Depot Plaza reconstruction and Bicentennial Park engineering

City staff (Speaker 3) briefed council on two major uptown public-space projects: Depot Plaza and Bicentennial Park. Staff said the plaza reconstruction pre-construction meeting is expected in the coming weeks and that weather permitting the brick plaza, small path and landscaping should be completed this spring. "The plaza pre-construction meeting should happen in the next couple of weeks and weather permitting, sidewalks, the brick plaza, the small path, and the landscaping will be completed this spring," Staff member (Speaker 3) said.

Staff also described next steps for the marketplace roof and building-envelope work, and said the administration will pursue piecemeal engineering where budgets allow, including starting engineering for a splash pad and green space this year with additional construction in subsequent years if budget permits. The Bicentennial Park engineering process is beginning and staff emphasized including public input in the long-term planning for the large project.
