Town Administrator Justin Sultzbach told the Select Board staff are completing year‑end activities and recently held a year‑end workshop for newer department heads. He said the police chief met with the school superintendent to discuss a Bus Patrol initiative enabled by new Massachusetts law that allows ticketing by camera when drivers fail to stop for school buses; the town is exploring the program and plans to bring a proposal to the board in July. "We are currently exploring the program and will bring something before the Select Board in July," Sultzbach said.
Sultzbach also reported attending a Brownfields seminar and described promising leads for remediation and reuse of the Glue Factory at 40 School St. He said the town submitted a waiver application to the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission seeking to prohibit cannabis delivery in Middleton; that application is under review. He noted the Council on Aging will host an open house June 24 and that an Assistant Director hire is pending an onboarding announcement. Staff thanked the Finance Team for year‑end coordination and reminded the community of the Public Safety Building plaque dedication on June 24 and the larger campus opening scheduled for Sept. 19.
