Council refers FY2027 municipal and school budgets, parking-meter appropriation to finance committee

Council President Logan formally referred the proposed FY2027 municipal and school budgets to the finance committee during Monday’s special session. "I refer the FY2027 municipal budget of $269,820,972 to the finance committee," the president said, then referred the school budget of $129,101,829 and an appropriation from the parking meter account in the amount of $569,973 to the finance committee.
The president also referred revolving accounts for the city clerk, council on aging, planning and recreation departments to the finance committee and sent compensation ordinance amendments to the Ordinances and Rules Committee. These referrals set the next procedural step: committee review and public hearings before potential adoption.
The referrals were made by voice during the meeting; councilor Cates, chair of the finance committee, said he will circulate hearing dates to councilors and discuss scheduling first with the finance committee.
