EDA hears Fillmore County childcare planning update; Community Center considered for after-school care

Fillmore County's RCCIP Core Team held a Child Care Appreciation event May 7 and is developing a Comprehensive Child Care Plan; the EDA was told surveys were distributed and a Harmony child care open house is set for July 28. Director Hahn updated the board on Fillmore County child care planning: a Child Care Appreciation event on May 7 kicked off development of a Comprehensive Child Care Plan; surveys have been sent to businesses, parents, and providers to gather feedback. The minutes state a Child Care open house is scheduled for July 28 in Harmony.
Hahn said the first step to explore using space in the Harmony Community Center for after-school child care is to request a Fire Marshal walkthrough, followed by a Minnesota state licensor walkthrough to determine what changes would be required to meet licensing standards. Hahn and board member Greg Schieber will contact Umbelina Cremer to better assess needs and next steps.
