Chamber interim CEO: Hot Springs draws four manufacturing leads, more business activity

Cole McCaskill, interim president and CEO of the Greater Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce and Hot Springs Metro Partnership, told the Board of Directors that the community has seen an uptick in manufacturing interest over the past two months.
"We've had 4 official, leads from the Arkansas Economic Development Commission," McCaskill said, adding the chamber hosted site visits and follow-up calls with prospects. He said the chamber and city economic-development staff discussed water and wastewater capacity and other local assets with prospective companies.
McCaskill also described recent outreach and retention work: he reported 23 business retention and expansion (BR&E) meetings since his last report and 57 BR&E meetings year-to-date. He noted Hot Springs hosted a field hearing of the U.S. House Natural Resources Committee, during which he briefed Congressman Westerman on the economic benefits of the National Park to the community.
Board members asked few questions; McCaskill said he attached a log of visits to his digital report for the board's review. The matter was presented for review ahead of formal action at the board's Aug. 4 meeting.
