City Council hires counsel to draft data center ordinance, EDA members briefed

The Harmony Economic Development Authority was briefed that the City Council approved contracting with outside counsel to draft a Data Center Ordinance. Greg Schieber reported the attorney is based in Eagan and that he and Alissa Stelpflug will meet with counsel on May 11 to start the drafting process.
The ordinance work follows prior joint planning meetings, Schieber said during the EDA’s May 7 meeting. The EDA discussed potential implications for local land use and acknowledged the need to coordinate ordinance language with planners and council members before any formal public hearing is scheduled.
