Board approves appropriations for schools, animal control, emergency services and volunteer fire department

The Cumberland County Board unanimously approved appropriations: $5,000 to schools, $41,727 to fund a third animal-control officer (salary and benefits), $700 to Emergency Services and $1,000 to the Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department from the 2026 REPP allocation.
The Cumberland County Board of Supervisors approved four separate appropriations during its Feb. 10 meeting.
On a motion by Supervisor Eurika Tyree, the board approved a $5,000 appropriation to Cumberland County Public Schools for purposes outlined in the grant. The board then approved funding a third animal-control officer position, including salary and benefits, in the amount of $41,727 (motion by Supervisor Tyree, seconded by Supervisor Newman). The Board also appropriated $700 to the Emergency Services Department (motion by Supervisor Robert Saunders) and approved a $1,000 allocation to the Emergency Services Department from the 2026 REPP allocation to support the Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department (motion by Supervisor Paul Stimpson). All votes on these items were recorded as unanimous.
The approvals were recorded with vote tallies listing each supervisor as 'aye.' The appropriation items will be reflected in FY'26 budget amendments and are intended to fund the positions and small operational support outlined in the presentations to the Board.
