Senior-center president praises bylaws progress; council tables MOU and approves raffle booth

Mary K. Outzen, president of the South Sevier Senior Citizen Advisory Board, reported to the Monroe City Council on July 14 that the board had finalized updated bylaws and made significant fundraising progress toward a new building. She requested permission to set up a raffle booth at the city’s July 24 barbecue; the Council approved the request.
City Recorder Allison Leavitt presented a draft Memorandum of Understanding between the City and the advisory board to formalize responsibilities for the building and clarify shared use with Sevier County’s nutrition program. Outzen said the MOU would help ensure continuity of services regardless of future leadership changes. The Council agreed to table formal action to allow both the Council and the board to review and provide input before proceeding.
