Council reviews park improvements, playground replacement and crowd-safety barriers

Robbins described a $200,000 appropriation to purchase reusable crowd-safety barriers that staff deployed at two events this year (an arts festival and a criterium race) and that drew positive feedback; Ryan Hockenberry said the barriers will reduce staff deployment costs because they can remain assembled for the season rather than rely on water barriers at every event.
Council asked whether playground budgeted amounts included related resurfacing or pavilion work; King said the playground appropriation covers equipment purchase and installation only and that pavilion or court resurfacing would be separate projects. Staff said they will provide additional project scoping and cost details as part of the capital list updates.
