County planner announces retirement; commission elects Weston vice chair

Longtime county planner Alan Thompson told the commission that the July 1 meeting would be his last and that he plans to retire effective Aug. 31 after 24 years of service.
"This will be my last planning commission meeting. I am retiring as of August 31," Thompson said, and commissioners offered thanks and congratulatory remarks. Commissioner Mark (first name used in the meeting) and others acknowledged Thompson's years of service.
Shortly afterward the commission accepted nominations for vice chair; Weston was nominated, seconded and elected by voice vote. Chair Brian Davies then closed the meeting.
