Traverse County sets tax-forfeited sale date, approves liquor licenses and internal transfers

County Auditor/Treasurer Kit Johnson told the Board that tax statements will be mailed in the coming weeks and that the tax-forfeited sale will be held on March 27, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the Commissioner's room. Johnson also reviewed statutory notice requirements for delinquent tax listings and redemption expiration, which must run in the paper for two consecutive weeks.
On separate motions, the Board approved a 3.2 beer license, a wine license including strong beer, and a consumption and display permit for the Wheaton Golf Course. The Board also approved internal transfers: $30,000 to the Traverse Care Center fund and $10,000 to the Prairieview Place fund. Johnson noted two administrator options for Wind Ordinance escrow funds, and that establishing a trust account with a bank could be less costly to administer.
