Commissioners approve contract amendments and project management hires for county capital work

At the Feb. 11 session the Board approved amendments and change orders that modify ongoing capital projects.
The Board authorized Change Order No. 13 to Ernest Bock & Sons, Inc. for work on the Justice Complex Annex (contract B2024‑01CE), increasing the contract by $85,328.63 to cover items including off‑site lighting fixture storage and revised equipment additions. The packet and the consulting architect's memo outline the work that generated the change order, which the county says is required to keep construction on track.
The Board also authorized several road‑project change orders, including a $24,403.87 increase to P & A Construction for Reconstruction of Cross Street in Lakewood (B2023‑100E) and a $16,757.97 increase to Earle Asphalt Company for Contract 2021D resurfacing packages (B2023‑125E). By contrast a change order to Vulcan Construction reducing the Manahawkin Lake Dam contract by $27,810.38 was also adopted (B2023‑179E), reflecting quantity adjustments.
In addition to change orders, staff selected firms to provide on‑call and project specific construction management. The Board authorized project management services for Prospect Street (Lakewood) to Van Cleef Engineering in a purchase order not to exceed $663,115.91 (QP2025‑114). Environmental Resolutions was selected for project management at the Ocean Gate Drive/Mill Creek Road intersection in Berkeley (purchase order not to exceed $289,144.84).
