Planning commission approves Austral Star manufacturing site plan after applicant promises daytime grinding only

The planning commission on June 18 approved SP26-003, a site plan for a commercial manufacturing facility (Austral Star) at approximately 5900 West Highway 83 in unincorporated Box Elder County.
The applicant said the proposed operation — manufacturing and storage of airport lifts, carts and overhead cranes and monorail systems — will use existing outbuildings plus one new building. The applicant stated that the "nosiest part of manufacturing is grinding which will be done during the day," and affirmed plans to comply with county regulations on hours of operation, lighting and signage. Staff noted an earlier annexation petition to Corinne City had been denied and that UDOT review of Highway 83 access was pending.
Commissioner Jared Holmgren moved to approve the site plan and Commissioner Jennifer Jacobsen seconded; the motion passed unanimously. Conditions require approval by all relevant county departments and compliance with county site-plan, conditional-use and outdoor-lighting standards prior to operation.
