Sheriff Trevor Wright told the Traverse County Board that jail occupancy for December 2024 was 48.72% and that he is collecting comparative data from neighboring jails, awaiting final reports from three counties.
The board debated the sheriff's proposed 2025 Fee Schedule. Commissioner Chad Metz moved to approve the schedule; Commissioner Dwight Nelson seconded. The motion passed 3–1 with Commissioner Kayla Schmidt voting opposed. Wright also updated commissioners on staffing matters, said staff will undertake training on a new inmate tracking system, and that he is reviewing proposed State updates to the '2911' rules governing county jails to prepare suggested edits during the comment period.
