The Ford County Board unanimously approved several Highway Committee recommendations on Jan. 12, adopting Resolution 26‑12 (Engineering Service Agreement for bridge replacement at 1540 E / 500 N), Resolution 26‑13 (2026 NBIS bridge inspections and program management), and Resolution 26‑14 (amending the Ford County employee handbook to allow additional personal days for Highway employees).
Mr. Nuss moved for the highway resolutions and Mrs. C. Ihrke seconded; roll calls on those motions were unanimous, recorded in the minutes. Committee members also expressed disappointment that a proposed rural transit program is on hold because of State of Illinois cutbacks and said they are seeking other ways to assist Ford County residents affected by the service pause. "Mr. Nuss & Mrs. C. Ihrke briefly spoke on the disappointment that rural transit is on hold due to State of IL. cutbacks and they are looking for other ways to help Ford Co. residents," the minutes state.
The approved engineering agreement and NBIS inspections are recorded as routine infrastructure-management actions; the handbook amendment affects county personnel policy for Highway employees.
