Staff said combining the pieces into one lot would allow the owner to place a garage closer to the house without violating setbacks. “So if you make this 1 lot, they can put the garage closer to the house and then basically... since it's all 1 lot, it can't really be used for anything else,” staff said.
Councilors heard that the lot division likely dates from an earlier time and that combining the parcels would be consistent with the P&Z recommendation. No substantive opposition was recorded on the item during the discussion.
