Assessor Koko Knudtson reported to the Board that changes to the exemption application scope have reduced the number of homeowners receiving the 25% exemption from about 11,000 last year to 4,336 for the current year. She also said long-term homeowner exemptions are slightly lower, 2,268 compared with 2,330 last year, and that no exemptions have yet been entered into the system pending property-value assessments and sales data.
To address staffing needs, Chairwoman Christi Haswell requested a motion to hire Paul Fall on an as-needed, part‑time basis for the assessor's office. Commissioner Nick Siddle moved to approve the hire; Commissioner Holly Jennings proposed a friendly amendment limiting the position to a maximum of 30 hours. The motion passed unanimously.
