The Traverse County Commission on March 4 approved construction contracts with Mark Sand & Gravel Co. totaling approximately $5.123 million for multiple highway projects. County Engineer Chad Gillespie asked the board to award SAP 078-609-021 and SAP 078-702-003 to Mark Sand & Gravel Co. for $2,719,755.23, and to award SP 078-615-017 to Mark Sand & Gravel Co. for $2,403,299.24 after contingencies are met; both awards were approved by unanimous vote.
Commissioner Chad Metz also moved to approve proceeding with the same plan with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at the Mustinka access as the county approved last year; the motion, seconded by Commissioner Dwight Nelson, was approved unanimously. Gillespie told commissioners the highway department received its budgeted 2024 pickup in February and reminded the public that MnDOT spring load restrictions apply, directing residents to MnDOT's load-limits signup for updates. The board recorded no dissent on the contract awards.
