Sheridan County approves affiliation agreement between Memorial Hospital and Sheridan Health

The Sheridan County Board of Commissioners on March 3 approved Resolution 26-02-033 to formalize an affiliation and services agreement between Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County and Sheridan Health. Deputy county attorney Clint Bieber told the board that hospital counsel and county counsel had worked together to draft the document, and county and hospital representatives described a lengthy review process and public engagement that informed the agreement.

"What we're trying to do is create a long-term strategy for supporting our mission and the health and well-being of this community," said the hospital representative Mr. McCafferty as he described the affiliation's goals. Commissioners noted they had reviewed governance language and other concerns in multiple meetings. A motion to approve and to authorize the chair to sign was made and passed by voice vote. Hospital board and leadership present included the hospital board chair Jennifer Shazens, finance committee chair Wendy Spiegelberg, COO Joe Wright and CMO Dr. Sierra Grove, who were acknowledged by the liaison during the meeting.

Deputy attorney Clint Bieber said counsel had aligned on the document, and commissioners expressed appreciation for the public meetings and hospital board work that preceded the resolution. The county recorded no roll-call tally in the minutes beyond the voice approval recorded on the record. The motion authorized the chair to execute the agreement and move forward with implementation steps coordinated between county and hospital leadership.
