County engineers detail dust-control bids, Red Grade opening and Cleanburn design progress

County engineering staff reported several road and infrastructure updates at the Feb. 23 meeting. The county will advertise a dust-control contract this week and expects to open bids on March 18 after supplier outreach beginning March 5. The engineer said two suppliers may compete after a local consolidation of providers.
The Red Grade Road project will open tomorrow, and staff said, weather permitting, construction could begin in spring with an October completion and an overall one-year schedule. On the Cleanburn project, the consultant and NRCS reached about 60% plans after evaluating three alternatives; staff hopes to have 100% plans by June and is applying for grants to fund upcoming phases.
Commissioners also discussed a Radford Bay parking-lot design requested by the BLM; staff said the design will be presented to the board when complete and likely relies on cut-and-fill rather than large stockpiles of excess materials.
