Sheridan County commissioners approved the month's warrants after a brief review and voice vote during their Feb. 23 staff meeting. A motion to approve the warrants, which included airport charges, carried with ayes from attending members.
One commissioner raised a recurring-cost concern, saying, "It looks like we're we're paying about $5,700 this month" for publishing and asked whether the county should explore alternatives and legislative changes through the Wyoming County Commissioners Association (WCCA) to reduce duplicate publication costs borne by the county, city, community college and school districts. The chair acknowledged the comment and asked staff to note it for future consideration.
The board did not take immediate action on the publishing question; commissioners limited the vote to approving the warrants as presented. The meeting then proceeded to payroll and departmental reports.
