Amelia County board elects officers, adopts 2025 meeting schedule and board rules

The Amelia County Board of Supervisors held its annual organizational meeting in January and completed officer elections and routine housekeeping. The county administrator opened nominations for chairman; a member nominated David Phelps, the board closed nominations and recorded five votes in favor and two abstentions for the chair position. The board then named a vice chair and recorded a vote that carried 4–1 with one abstention.
The board set its 2025 regular meeting schedule—meetings at 7 p.m. at the Dunn Street location as published—and approved the rules of the board with small clarifying amendments intended to improve agenda preparation timelines and the posted location of notices. Administration characterized the rule changes as housekeeping intended “for clarity” and said there were no material substantive changes. The board approved the dates, locations and amended rules by voice vote.
