Residents ask Avon to clarify priorities as town plans multi‑million capital projects

Resident Kathleen Randall pointed to recent one-time revenues — ARPA funds and higher interest income — and cautioned against proceeding with expensive architectural work without agreeing on what the town can afford. She cited draft project figures mentioned publicly — $67–$70 million for potential fire stations and $8–$10 million for work on Old Farms Road — and said officials should set spending priorities before paying architects’ fees.
Town officials and staff acknowledged those concerns and noted there is a process for budgeting capital projects. Slides attached to the meeting materials list capital requests totaling $4,567,700 for FY2025–26 and an unfunded request list of about $2.84 million. Officials invited residents to the April 9 workshop where the Board of Finance will refine recommendations ahead of the May meeting and referendum.
